Vichy monnaie

I got a little Vichy coin for a dime. actually that was the asking price, but it was really a gratuity, it and a handful of european small change for free when I bought a Sachsen taler from a local dude. the coin looks like this:

<SCRIPT language=Javascript><!-- document.write('</style>'); document.write('</form>'); document.write('<'+'/script'+'>');//--></SCRIPT>

Notice how they canned the stupid "egalite, liberte, fraternite," in favor of the slogan, "travail, famille, patrie" or, work, family, country. I also like the battle axe-- symbolic of both the ancient battle-axe culture of prehistoric France, and also the axe that comes in the fasces, the budle of rods symbolizing Roman authority. Nice counterpart to the winged liberty dime and its noble fasces on the reverse, I think.

I didnt realize this was a vichy coin at first, but the axe caught my eye, and I liked the slogan. SHould have known!

</STYLE></FORM></SCRIPT>

That is so cool! I'm a real lover of almost all things Vichy.

I got a bunch of .625 silver 2 Reichsmark coins from the NS era too, with the hakenkreuz on them, for a smidgen less than what they go for on fleabay. which is now about 9 or ten each seems like last time I checked.
